Helping the Homeless -- What can you do?
Every night, 1 in 200 Australians find themselves without a safe or secure place to sleep. Several of these homeless individuals are children. 90% of homeless children were driven to the fact by facing an abusive or otherwise violent household. More than half have severe mental health problems.Homelessness is one of Australia's biggest issues in terms of safety concerns. So; How can you help today?Of course, one of the most impactful things you can do is donate to the many causes dedicated to keeping homeless people off the streets. Even something as simple as donating food and clothing can make a huge difference.
The most prominent charity for those in danger in Australia, including and especially those who are homeless (or on the brink of being so), is the St. Vincent De Paul Society. This charity is also known as Vinnies, and they have been providing assistance to the most vulnerable since 1854.However, sometimes it just isn't possible for people to donate. There are many things you can do to help those in need, one of which being volunteer work.Places like food banks and soup kitchens are always looking for more volunteers, and not only does it help those in need significantly, volunteer work also looks very good on a resume.
